Rio Vista Foundation Presents A Soup Tasting
The Rio Vista Foundation held its first, very successful soup tasting on February 3rd at the Senior Center. Guests were served over 6 different tastings of soup and then all guests had the option of choosing a bowl of their favorite. Salad, dinner rolls, crackers and dessert were also served. All guests were given a decorative jar full of candy for them to take home. We couldn’t have done any this without everyone that volunteered their time being servers and to the food preparers. A special thanks goes to our sponsor, Schafer Real Estate, Inc. We must also send out a special thank you to Lucy’s Cafe, Lira’s Supermarket and Pizza A GoGo. Watch for a repeat performance of this event next winter and thanks to everyone that attended. Funds raised will be going towards trade school scholarships for qualifying applicants.

Rio Vista Foundation Hosts First Annual Tea Party
The Rio Vista Foundation — sponsored by Ralene Nelson of Re-Max Grupe Gold and Robin Sibert of Robin’s Nest — hosted their first annual tea party on May 13 at the Senior Center.
The teas actually came from Fortnum and Mason on the UK. A selection of classic tea sandwiches were first on the menu. A variety of sweets and British tea biscuits plus fruit were next on the menu. The final serving included scones served with fresh Devonshire cream and strawberry jam. Trudy Engstrom gets kudos for preparing all of these delights. A raffle followed. The big surprise was that all of the guests were told they could keep their teacup and saucer.
Pictured are the members of the Rio Vista Foundation Board. Jeff Shewmaker, Tami Mitchell, Evelyn Wilson, Mark Stokes, Cathy Lindstrom, Gene Resler, Trudy Engstrom and Donna Nunes.
Volunteers for this event were Grace Ambrust, Pam Caronongan, Ellen Mathewson, not pictured Brock Engstrom, Chase Engstrom and Walt Stanish.
Proceeds will be dedicated to scholarships for local high school graduates.
